Mrs. Gertrude Robertson Thornton

BURLINGTON — Mrs. Gertrude Robertson Thornton, 84, of Burlington, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an illness of three months.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Thomas W. Thornton, who survives, and the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin Robertson and Mattie Ethel Whitesell. She was retired owner of Allure Beauty Shop and was a member of St. Mark’s Reformed Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a son, Mr. Thomas F. “Buddy” Thornton of the home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Tracy Thornton Swift of Orlando, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Mr. Kevin Swift and Mr. William Swift, both of Orlando; a sister, Mrs. Stanley (Pauline) Hayworth of High Point; and a brother, Mr. Joe F. Robertson of Burlington.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Reformed Church by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr., and the Rev. Ben Bishop.
