Ernestine was the daughter of Roy Ernest and Margaret (Campbell) Mansfield. She married Marshall Dean Butler in 1948 and they were the parents of one daughter: Linda Gail.

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ernestine Mansfield Butler, 83, of 2019 S. Mebane St., Apt. E, passed away at 3:55 a.m., Sunday, May 27, 2012, at her residence.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Marshall Dean Butler and daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Campbell Mansfield. Mrs. Butler was retired from Western Electric after 33 years of service, a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and was active with Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Butler Johnston and husband, Terry, of Burlington; a granddaughter, Lisa Johnston Kirkpatrick and husband, Matt, of Raleigh; two great-granddaughters, Grace Kirkpatrick and Claire Kirkpatrick; a sister, Eleanor M. Brooks of Burlington; and three brothers, Darrell Mansfield of Burlington, Jimmy Mansfield of Florida and Edgar Mansfield of Florida.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, at the First Reformed United Church of Christ with the Rev. Phillip Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington, and other times at the residence of the daughter, 916 Brentwood Drive, Burlington.
