Born June 6, 1952, in Burlington, NC, he was the son of George McCoy Keck and Geneva Fogleman Keck, both deceased. He belonged to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wytheville, VA where he faithfully worshipped and sang in the choir.

George is survived by his wife of 32 years, Helen Stith Keck, of Ceres, VA; sister and brother –in-law, Jennie and Jim Hallsey of Fleetwood, NC; uncle and aunt, Alex and Joyce Keck of Burlington, NC; nieces, Gina Allen and husband Jon Allen and Lisa Ferguson and husband Christopher Ferguson, all of Charlotte, NC; cousins, Susan Cook of Burlington, NC, Ellen Walker of Snow Camp, NC and Linda Brackett of Valdese, NC; sisters-in-law, Nancy Stith of Atlanta, GA, Sally Steele of Lexington, KY, Mary Lee Goldstein of Las Vegas, NV and their children; and more best friends than the law should allow, whom he included in his family!

George’s desire in life was to be known as a man of God, foremost, and to serve his community. Any other achievements were a result of his relationship with God. He participated and was a leader in several Christian and social ministry organizations: Macedonia Lutheran Church, Burlington, NC, where he was baptized on Sept. 7, 1952 and confirmed on April 1, 1966, Lutheran Retirement Ministries, Burlington, NC, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Deaconess Board, Chicago, IL, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Wytheville, VA and HOPE Ministries, Wytheville, VA.

In 2000 George retired from the building construction business in Burlington, NC where he previously owned and operated Keck Co. Inc. and Anderson-Wells Marble and Tile. He and his crews together built many loved homes and prominent commercial business projects. He and Helen moved from Burlington, NC to Ceres, VA in 2001 where they later became farmers of Black Angus cattle on their Ceres farm, Blue Willow Angus Farm, and also owners of Smokey’s BBQ Restaurant in Wytheville, VA.
