Mr. Edward W. McQueen
BURLINGTON — Mr. Edward “Eddie” W. McQueen, 75, of 2216 Delaney Drive, died at 8p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at his home after an illness of 10 months.
A native of Montgomery County, he was the husband of Mrs. Carol S. McQueen, who survives, and the late Mrs. Willa Whitesell McQueen. He was the son of Mr. William McQueen and Mrs. Romalee Owens McQueen, both deceased. He was a member of St. Mark’s Reformed Church and was retired from Waydell Associates. He was a member of the Burlington Shrine Club, the Bula Masonic Lodge 409 AF & AM, the Amran Temple of Raleigh, the Scottish Rite of Greensboro Valley and the Burlington Moose Lodge No. 649. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Patricia (Keith) McQueen Coleman of Hillsborough, Mrs. June (Chris) McQueen Zimmerman of Burlington and Mrs. Tina (David) McQueen Coble of Greensboro; a son, Mr. Gary (Janet) McQueen of Farmville, Va.; three stepsons, Mr. David (Janet) Howard of Homestead, Fla., Mr. Ronald G. Howard of Graham and Mr. Gary (Sherry) S. Howard of Asheville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Susan (Ken) Capps of Graham; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Walter McQueen and Mr. Harvey G. McQueen.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at St. Mark’s Reformed Church by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr., pastor and the Rev. Ben Bishop, associate pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial with Masonic rites will be in the church cemetery. The Bula Masonic Lodge No. 409 AF & AM will meet for emergent communication for the purpose of conducting the graveside rites.
The family was at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
The family will be at the home.
