Obituary Online notes for Irene COBB
Mrs. Irene C. Dunman Clapp, 98, of Greensboro, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Carolina Commons Healthcare Center.


A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenhill Cemetery in Greensboro, with the Rev. Dr. G. Melvin Palmer officiating.


Born July 6, 1906, in Virginia, she lived most of her life in North Carolina. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ on West Market Street. She retired from Meyer's Department Store after 44 years of service. After her retirement, Mrs. Clapp moved to Long Beach, N.C., where she lived for 22 years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed long walks and craft making.


She is survived by one son, Charlie L. Dunman of Greensboro; one brother, John Cobb and his wife, Thelma of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Theresa Dunman, Darrell Dunman, Douglas Dunman and his wife, Cathy, all of Burlington, Karen D. Spuhler and her husband, Grant and Robert Leonard Dunman and his wife, Teresa, all of Greensboro; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel and other times at the residence of Mrs. Clapp's son, Charlie Dunman. 470, Irene Cobb Clapp
