Mrs. Virginia Lea Whitesell Howell

February 19, 1934 ~ September 6, 2015 (age 81)

Mrs. Virginia Lea Whitesell Howell, known as Jenky to her family and close friends, died on September 6th at her home.  Virginia was born on February 19, 1934 to the late Carl and Effie Clark Whitesell of Greensboro, NC and was a resident of Guilford and Randolph Counties all of her life.   Virginia was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, the morning circle and the Sonshine friends of the church and Christian Fellowship Sunday School class.  She was a member of Furniture Capital Chapter of the American Business Women for 25 years and was also an active member of the Oakview Lady Lions.  Virginia retired from Prudential Insurance Company of American in 1991.  Virginia and John were married on June 5, 1955 by the Reverend J.A. Howell, John’s grandfather.  

Virginia is survived by her husband John of the home, a daughter Terri Proctor of High Point, four grandchildren; Brandon Proctor, Heather Howell Shelton, Gretchen Proctor, and Hannah Frady, four great grandchildren; Paige and Gavin Shelton, Isaac and Noah Proctor, two sisters Doris Self of Greensboro and Joan Brown of Archdale.  Also surviving are nieces Robin Self and Dana Fryar and her friends at Lebanon United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by one son Carl Howell, her parents and a sister.  She was an organ donor, in the hopes of helping others.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Lebanon United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Lebanon United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels or Hospice of the Piedmont.
