Philip Waynick Whitesell
ASHEVILLE, NC - Philip Waynick Whitesell, 67, made his transition on Monday, October 30, 2017. Born January 7, 1950, in Burlington, NC, he was the son of the late H. E. Whitesell, Jr. and the late Honzelle Waynick Whitesell.
Philip attended Western Alamance High School and made his career in sales, living in Colorado and California for a while before returning and settling in Sneads Ferry, N.C. He loved the beach and married his wife, Judith (Jude) Huckabee Whitesell, in a ceremony performed on a deck overlooking the ocean at Indian Beach, N.C. They spent many happy years in Sneads Ferry.
After her death, he moved to Asheville where he built a cabin in the woods near his sister’s house.
He is survived by two step daughters, Judith Denise (Denephew) Wood, Margaret Melinda( Lindy ) Wood, four grandchildren, Melanie Howell, Garrett Mitchell, Angelica Maddox and Ivy Maddox, sister Emily Jayne Wilder and husband Joseph Wesley Harger , sister Sylvia Whitesell Schultz and husband David Schultz, and a host of nieces and nephews. Uncle Phil was a great story teller and entertained all the family with stories of his many adventures. Phil did it his way and was well loved by his family; he will be greatly missed.
A private ceremony to celebrate his life will be held at Indian Beach.
