Mildred Lea Whitesell Shoffner
BURLINGTON – Mrs. Mildred Lea Whitesell Shoffner, 100, formerly of St. Mark’s Church Rd., Burlington, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham.
A native of Guilford County, she was wife of the late James Richard Shoffner and daughter of the late Ernest David Whitesell and Flossie Caroline Gerringer Whitesell. Mrs. Shoffner was the oldest member of St. Mark’s Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Kay Daniels of Cary, NC; a son, Charles E. Rumley and wife Patricia of Charlotte; two step-daughters, Shelby Jean McLean and husband Jerry of McLeansville and Bernice Shoffner of Stuart, FL; a step-son, James Richard Shoffner, Jr. of McLeansville; four grandchildren, Cristin Connor of Jacksonville, FL, Caroline Mutters of O’Fallon, IL, Keith Rumbley of Charlotte and Gina Rumbley of Durham; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Ernest Whitesell, Jr. of Whitsett.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15, at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ with Rev. Ben Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 9:45-10:45 a.m., prior to the service.
