Hilda Whitesell Baites
Hilda Whitesell Baites, 82, passed away at Wesley Long Hospital on September 3, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 6 at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro.
Hilda was born in Whitsett, N.C. to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest D. Whitesell Sr. on February 15, 1927. She was a graduate of Alamance High School and settled in Greensboro where she was a homemaker during the years she raised a family. In later years, she worked in jewelry sales prior to her retirement. Hilda was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Chancel Choir for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Howard Whitesell; a sister, Doris Greeson; her first husband of 27 years, William L. Baites Sr.; and her second husband, Ben Lamb.
Survivors
include Hilda’s children, William L. Baites Jr. and his partner Stephen F. Dull, Dana L. Baites, M. Joan Baites; two sisters, Mildred Shoffner and Laura Clapp; and one brother, Ernest Whitesell Jr.
Visitation will be held at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel, in Greensboro on Saturday, September 5 from 6 until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: Development Office: Attention Mac Griffith, MAC Lung Disease Research, University of Texas Health Sciences Center, 11937 U.S. Hwy. 271, Tyler, Texas 75708.
