Delis Herbert "Dink" Whitesell Obituary
Delis Herbert "Dink" Whitesell, Jr., 88, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at his residence.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Community Presbyterian Church, Pinehurst.
Family will receive friends following the service.
Dink was born February 28, 1924 in Alamance County to the late Alice Irene Jeffreys and Delis Herbert Whitesell Sr.
After high school graduation, he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
Following the war, he went to work in the family business, Whitesell Brothers Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lib; sons Thomas Whitesell and wife Susan of Siler City and Hank Whitesell of Pinehurst; daughter Jane Liddell and husband Bob of Pinehurst; brothers David Whitesell of Troy, Fred, Kenneth, and Max Whitesell, all of Pinehurst; sisters Linda Uphole of Pinehurst and Mary Mills of Michigan; grandsons Joshua Liddell, Jacob Liddell, and Jeffreys Whitesell; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Vernon, Leonard, and Mark Whitesell, sister Fern Whitesell Bunch .
Memorial contributions may be made to Pinehurst Lions Club PO Box 511 Southern Pines, NC 28388 or Governor Morehead, School for the Blind, 303 Ashe Ave., Raleigh, NC 27606 or American Diabetes Association 4801 E. Independence Liberty, NC 27298.
