Evelyn Smith Cook
September 18, 1933 — February 25, 2025
Gibsonville

Evelyn Smith Cook was born September 18, 1933 in Guilford County to the late Weldon and Zora Smith. She grew up with two brothers, learning to work hard on the tobacco farm in Guilford County.

Evelyn retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company as an oiler for 43 years before retiring. She attended Crusade Baptist Church and Johnson Baptist Church. She was a joy to be around, loved her family, and worked hard for all that she had. She lived a faithful and loving life to all who knew her.

Surviving is her one and only son, Roy Lee Cook (Nicole) that was her pride and joy; three step grandchildren: Mekenzie, Autumn and Montana; and a great grandchild, Anita Rayne.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Alfred John Cook (A.J.) and two brothers: Granville Smith and Silas Smith.

A Funeral Service to honor her life will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM till 1:45 PM at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. Other times the family will be at the home.

Evelyn enjoyed spending time with and talking on the phone with her very special friend, Bill Brown.

Special thanks are given to Carolyn and Montana for the help that was provided to care for her. Also a special thanks to friends: Pauline Cook, Gaynelle Apple and Annette Mink.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Fire Department, 7806 Jackson School Road, Brown Summit, NC 27214.
