Sue  Smith Lindley 

    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Sue  Smith Lindley , 90, of the Village at Brookwood died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 12:50 a.m. following several years of declining health and two weeks critical illness.

    A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Harvey W. Lindley  Sr. and the daughter of Silas Jerry Smith and Ethel Mae Warren Smith, both deceased.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington and the Open Door Sunday School Class and was a retired employee of The Times-News.

    Survivors include three stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McCauley, Mrs. Frances Clapp and husband, George, and Mrs. Peggy L. Mullis, all of Burlington; three stepsons, Mr. Harvey W. Lindley  Jr. and wife, Kay, Mr. J. Thomas Lindley  Sr. and wife, Mary, and Mr. Jack R. Lindley  Sr. and wife, Dot, all of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Helen S. Mitchell of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Banks Smith and wife, Norma R. of Graham and Mr. Harold M. Smith and wife, Jean of Elon; 18 grandchildren; and 40 greatgrandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Christine S. Pickard.

    A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington today, February 19, 2006, at 2 p.m. by Dr. Ron Shive. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
