Mr. Lester Ward
LEXINGTON — Mr. Lester Julius Ward Jr., 88, of Hoover Drive, died Monday morning, Dec. 4, 2000, at Lexington Health Care.
Born Jan. 20, 1912, in Caswell County, he was the son of Mr. Lester Julius Ward Sr. and Mrs. Lucy Martin Ward, both deceased. He was self-employed as a painter and was a member of Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Gail White of Graham and Ms. Saye McCall of Burlington; a son, Mr. Ronald Ward of Burlington; a sister, Ms. Preston Moorefield of Yanceyville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Mr. James Ward, Mr. Ray Ward, Mr. Levi Ward, Mr. Wilber Ward and Mr. Paul Ward; and two sisters, Ms. Betsy Hussey and Ms. Pearl Lynn.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lexington City Cemetery by the Rev. Darrell Cartrette.
