Mrs. Wilda Mebane Ross
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Wilda Mebane Ross, 73, of 2139 Gwyn Road, died at 1:30 a.m.Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at her home after a critical illness of three days. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Luther Wilkins Ross, and the daughter of the late Grady M. and Evie Fuqua Mebane. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. She was a former member of the Alamance County Home Demonstration Club and was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the A-O Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Julie R. Richardson and her husband, Tim, of Burlington and Mrs. Cindi R. Scoppe and her husband, Rick, of Columbia, S.C.; a son, Mike Ross and his wife, Judy, of Burlington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, G. Nelson Mebane; and a sister, Mrs. Nora M. Phillips. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor. Mrs. Ross will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
