Mrs. Coleen Browning Agnew
HAW RIVER — Mrs. Coleen Browning Agnew, 76, of Haw River, died Wednesday,
March 8, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Aubrey Lester Agnew and
the daughter of Mr. John Samuel Browning and Mrs. Mary Michael Browning, both
deceased. She retired from Alamance County Schools after teaching 40 years with Haw
River School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Haw River, where she was a
charter member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the
Hawthorn Garden Club and the Good Neighbors Club of Roma Road, a member of the
Senior Citizens Club of Haw River and the Auxiliary of Alamance County Hospital and
Alamance Regional Medical Center, and served as school committeeman for Haw River
School.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Robin Elizabeth Agnew of Cary and Miss Lauren
Brynley Agnew of the home; and a sister, Mrs. Floyd (Barbara) Perkins of Burlington.
She was prceded in death by two brothers, Mr. John Edison Browning and Mr. Paul
Michael Browning.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Haw River by
the Rev. Richard G. Poindexter, pastor, the Rev. Joe Bostic, pastor of Mount Hermon
Baptist Church in Durham, and the Rev. Kenneth Wilson, retired Baptist minister. The
body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance
Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other
times at the home.
