KERNERSVILLE, NC ~ Mr. James Stack McCollum, 75, of Appaloosa Trail died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hanes-Lineberry Pierce Chapel. Burial will be at Westfield Friends Meeting Cemetery.
Mr. McCollum was the son of Luther Dwaine and Icy Isabelle McCollum.
He was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Kernersville.
He was the retired owner of Open Pantry Food Mart at Beeson's Crossroad, where he affectionately greeted his customers with "Hi neighbor" and was fondly remembered by "Yea boy!"
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Stack McCollum.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ocho Lee McCollum of the home; three sons, Steven Michael McCollum and wife Tere of Peachtree City, Ga., Lewis Dwaine McCollum and wife Tammy of Winston-Salem and Mark Johnson McCollum and wife Jackie of King; a brother, Luther Dwaine McCollum of Elon College; two sisters, Mabel Lethco and Mary Dexheimer of Greensboro; seven grandchildren, April, Chris, Julia, Matthew, Jonathan, Joshua and Jennifer; and a great-grandchild, Cole.
Due to an administrative error, there will be an additional visitation from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.
