Christina "Tina" Capes Barber Obituary
Christina “Tina” Capes Barber, 65, of Burlington, NC passed away at Compass Healthcare and Rehabilitation Hawfields on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Burlington, she was the daughter of Richard Ronald Capes and Barbara Ann Pickard Capes, both deceased. She retired in 2017 from Altamahaw Ossipee Elementary School after 22 years of service as a teacher’s assistant. She was highly adored by her students, school staff, family, and friends whose lives she enriched throughout the years. Tina enjoyed reading, trips to the beach, playing putt-putt, and listening to Kenny Chesney.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Matthew Capes (Angela) and Herbert Tate Barber III (Ashley); daughter, Kristi Barber Norris (Kenneth); grandchildren, Iann, Anthony, Brandan, Jameson, and Lauryn; great grandson, Keegan; twin sister, Selena Crace; baby sister, Angela Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at Alamance Memorial Park on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
