Carl Edward Moore


    BURLINGTON — Carl Edward Moore, 90, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at his home.
    He was the husband of the late Thelma Allen Moore and was born December 14, 1919 in Alamance County to the late John Robert Vance Moore and the late Mary Frances Luna Somers Moore.
    Carl attended Bethlehem Christian Church and was a member of the D.A.V. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Sicily where he was wounded and received the Silver Star and a Purple Heart. Carl was also the oldest living member of the Alamance Seniors Golf Association. He was known for his infectious laugh, grand smile and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
    Survivors include his daughter Carlette Blackmon of Burlington; grandsons, Christopher (Debra) Blackmon of Garner, Derrick (Robin) Blackmon of Mobile, Ala., great-granddaughters, Aaliyah and Brianna Blackmon; a sister, Frances Webster of Graham; and a brother, Gilbert Moore of Burlington.
    He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a daughter, Carol Ann Moore; sisters, Faye Wrenn, Lillian Brown, Julia Ross; brothers, Clarence Moore, Glynden Moore, Homer Moore, Allen Wilson Moore, Preston Holt Moore, William Robert Moore and James Minot Moore.
    The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dave Gilbert. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
    The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home of his daughter, 2931 Blanche Drive, Burlington.
