Daughter of Wayland Hoyt and Bertha Gertrude Rhodes Stanley. Louise married (1) James Earl Hardie, (2) George Kirby Hardee, and (3) Vernon Lee Somers.


NORTH MYRTLE BEACH - Louise Stanley Hardee Somers, 81, died Aug. 2, 2004, at her home.

She was born on March 7, 1923 in Loris, S.C., the daughter of the late Wayland Hoyt and Bertha Rhodes Stanley.

Mrs. Somers was retired from Nursing after 30 years as an LPN. She worked at Loris Community Hospital, Ocean View Hospital, and Grand Strand Hospital. She was known as a person who was very dedicated to her work. She was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon L. Somers of North Myrtle Beach; a son, Edward Hardee and his wife, Patrice of Murrells Inlet; two daughters, Dr. Margaret Hl. Preston of Cooksville, Tenn. and Alice H. Hardee and her husband, Carol of Leland, N.C.; two brothers, George F. Stanley of Witcha Tall Falls, Texas and Harold G. Stanley of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Lois R. Cannon of Clayton, Ga., and Mary Currie of Loris; a sister-in-law, Lucille Hill of North Myrtle Beach; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a loving son, Hoyt Stanley Hardee; a brother, Julian Carr Stanley, killed in WWII; and a sister, Iris Stanley Buddin.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Mike Vipperman will officiate.
