Betty Somers McIntyre
   ELON, N.C. — Betty Somers McIntyre, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2010 after several months of failing health.

   Born December 22, 1926 to the late Ernest G. and Lecy Wagoner Somers, she was married for 64 years to Edsel Howard McIntyre Sr. who survives.

   Betty worked for many years as a secretary at Burlington Industries and was a lifelong member of Berea Christian Church.

   Survivors include her husband of the home; sons, Edsel Howard McIntyre Jr. and wife Linda of Roxboro, Kenneth Gregg McIntyre and wife Carolyn of Ossipee; grandchildren, Brian McIntyre and girlfriend Stephanie of Hillsborough, Susan McIntyre of Roxboro; stepgrandchildren, Amy Kosmos, Tommy Faucette and wife Rhonda, Daniel Lineberry and wife Anita; seven greatstepgrandchildren ; brothers, Daniel Somers and wife Sabra of Alamance, John Somers and wife Ramona of Burlington, Joseph Somers and wife Nita of Alabama; a sister, Gladys Lancaster of Virginia Beach; and sister-in-law, Louise Somers.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Somers, Boyd Somers, Calvin Somers; and a sister, Virginia Jones.

   The family would like to thank the nurses and the CNAs at Alamance Health Care for all the attention they gave Betty during her stay there.

   A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Berea Christian Church by the Rev. Bland Leebrick with the burial to follow at the church cemetery.

   The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

   Memorials may be made to the Berea Christian Church Cemetery Fund c/o H. R. Thomasson Jr., 3860 Stoney Creek Church Road, Elon, N.C. 27244.
