July 19, 1931 ~ November 12, 2019 (age 88)
Daniel Edward Somers, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Blakey Hall in Elon.
He was born in Ossipee to the late Ernest G. and Lecy Belle Wagoner Somers and was married for 65 years to Sabra Pike Somers who survives.
Daniel was formerly employed by Bell Labs and was the owner and operator of Somers Mfg. Company. He was a member of Gideons International and the Alamance Civitan Club. He was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church where he previously served as deacon and attended Andrews Memorial Baptist Church for 43 years.
He was a U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant serving during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Sabra; daughter, Danelle Somers; son, Pike Somers (Pat); grandchildren, Jessica Gregory (Chad Maupin), Rev. Daniel Gregory (Allison), Dr. Chad Riggs (Joy); great grandchildren, Eleanor Maupin, Grace Gregory, Chase Riggs, Emma Riggs; brother, John Donald Somers (Shirley) and Gladys Somers Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be held 10:00 AM Friday, November 15, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Daniel Gregory and Rev. Bob Stephenson with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the doctors, nurses and staff at Blakey Hall for taking such good care of Mr. Somers. 3, Daniel Edward Somers
