Mr. William Graten Dickey

BURLINGTON — Mr. William “Bill” Graten Dickey, 81, of 4738 Rustic Court West in Lakeland, Fla., formerly of South Beaumont Ave. in Burlington, died at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland.

A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Irene Foster Dickey and Mrs. Sadie Johnson Dickey, both deceased.

He was the son of Mr. Ernest Dickey and Mrs. Lessie Somers Dickey, both deceased.

He was retired from AT&T and was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where he was in the men’s Bible class.

He was a U.S. National Guard veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and the Sons and Daughters of Liberty.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Faydene Conerly of Lakeland and Mrs. Kay Kimrey of Gibsonville; 10 stepgrandchildren; and 21 great-stepgrandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Norman M. Whitney Sr., pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church.

The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 5 to 7 this evening, and at other times at the home of a stepdaughter, Mrs. Kay Kimrey, 420 Smith St. in Gibsonville.3, Mr. William Graten Dickey
