 WHITSETT - Erwin Blake Martin, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2016.
 
 He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 48 years to Priscilla Strayhorne Martin who survives.
 
 Blake retired from Sherwin Williams and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.
 
 He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church. Blake was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Whitsett Fire Station # 31. He was a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association.
  Blake was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling with his family, especially taking trips to the coast.
  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.
 
 Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Allison Martin of Raleigh; son, Eric Martin and wife, Christy of Mcleansville; grandchildren, Aaron (Hope) Martin and Connor Martin; great grandson, Carter Martin; sister, Sharon Hunt and husband, Larry of Whitsett; brother, Dennis Martin and wife, Jan of Hickory and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Chester and Juanita Priscilla Dickey Martin and a son-in-law, William Apple.
 
 A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Davis Street United Methodist Church by Rev. Jimmy Weaver and the family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
 
 The entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum andthefamilywillbeatthe residence at other times.
 
 Memorials may be made to Living Hope Ministries, c/o Camp Hope, 411 Bethel Street, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
