Gaity Artres French Johnson, 83, of Reidsville was healed from her bodily pains in her sleep at home, Tuesday, March 27, 2012 and now worships her Lord for all eternity.
Funeral services will be held at Community Baptist Church with burial following at Roselawn Cemetery.
Artres was born in the Oregon Hill community to George B. and Myrtle Strader French and lived her entire life in Rockingham County, graduating from Ruffin High School and Jones Business School in High Point, NC.
She was first and foremost a wife, mother and homemaker, but still held positions at an auto dealership, the fire department, the school system, Freeway Builders' Supply, and sold World Book Encyclopedias.
An active member of Community Baptist Church here in Reidsville, she loved people and served as a Junior Church teacher, Awana worker, and choir member for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memory, son Derwin and wife Marjorie and granddaughters Kelly and Caroline of Reidsville, and son Stanley, wife Mary and grandson Daniel of Niger, Africa and grandson Ryan of Toccoa, GA; brother Claude French and wife Marion, sister-in-law Virginia Whicker French, a niece like a daughter, Sandi Johnson Emery, and many dear and loved nephews and nieces and their families.
Gone on before her was her husband of 50 years, Silas Johnson,her sister Vivian Johnson and brothers James French and Winfred "Dickie" French
