Bobby Lee  "Daddy Bob" Longest


    ELON — Bobby Lee  "Daddy Bob" Longest, 76, of 876 Elon-Ossipee Road in Elon died at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro after a brief illness.
    He was retired from Associated Transport and a member of St. John’s New Mission Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Doris York Longest of the home; two daughters, Cindy Dimont and husband Keith of Elon and Susie Davidson of Greensboro; stepsons, Glenn Goss and wife Susan of Gibsonville, Wade Staunton and wife Gwenn of Oak Ridge, Tim Staunton and wife Laura of Greensboro and Jim Staunton and wife Mary Barbara of Rockwell, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brandon Dimont and Courtney Dimont; nine stepgrandchildren and two greatstepgrandchildren; stepmother, Lessie Longest of Asheboro; sister, Peggy Kivett of Hampton, Va.; and special companion, "Kody."
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Austin Longest who died in 1982; parents, Giles William Longest and Virginia Dare Longest; and a brother, J.G. Longest.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at St. John’s New Mission Church by Dr. Mack Painter. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
    Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at McClure Funeral Home in Graham and at other times, at the residence.
