Mrs. Zola Davenport Wright


    PLYMOUTH — Mrs. Zola Davenport Wright, 86, of Plymouth, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Twin Lakes Community of Burlington.
    Born in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Lloyd and Lelia Allen Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Milton Wright; a sister, Isabel Davenport; and a brother, Lloyd Davenport. Mrs. Wright was a homemaker and seamstress extraordinaire. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Lillian Manning Circle. She was an active member of the Plymouth Women’s Club.
    Her family includes her daughter, Xylda W. Gee of Elon, N.C.; a son, Bruce W. Wright of Plymouth; brothers, Hansel Davenport of Aulander, N.C., and Fred A. Davenport of Plymouth; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
    The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, and at other times at the residence of her son, Bruce W. Wright.
    Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Plymouth, N.C. or Twin Lakes Community, 100 Wade Coble Drive, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
