Obituary Online notes for Albert Barron TROXLER
Browns Summit, Mr. A. B. Troxler “Pops,” 92, of Browns Summit, passed away on Saturday, November 29th, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Barron was born on January 2nd, 1922 in Guilford County to the late Sank and Ida Troxler. He graduated from Monticello High School and served in the United States Army 82nd Infantry Division (Pacific Theatre) during World War II. After the war, he returned to the Browns Summit area where he farmed with his father and later became a rural mail carrier in the community where he served over twenty-five years. After retirement, he continued to farm and worked for Crop Production Services. Pops was a devoted member of the community, where he enjoyed growing watermelons and sweet potatoes. A. B. was a member of V.F.W. Post #8297 Midway-Monroeton ,Northeast Civitan Club and formerly served as a fire commissioner for Northeast Fire Department. As an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church, A. B. served in many capacities over his many years.
He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of seventy-one years, Kathleen. A.B. was also pre-deceased by his brothers, Henry, Reid and “ Shorty” Troxler.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Simpson (Donnie) and Jan Brown (Kenneth) both of Browns Summit; grandchildren, Kim Boyd (Scott), Jill Simpson, Ken Brown (Crystal), Alicia May (Justin), Kelly Brown (Debra); great-grandchildren, Grayson and Kenzie Boyd and Karsyn May; one sister, Annie Lou Medearis (Clyde) of Charlotte; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 at Friendship United Methodist Church. A military graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. 470, Albert Barron Troxler
