Beverly Christine Pope
September 29, 1951 — May 13, 2023
Burlington
Beverly Christine Thompson Pope was a loving and dedicated daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at age 71.
After graduating from Western Alamance in 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, Howard Pope, in 1970. Beverly went on to college to earn an Audio Visual degree, which led her to work as a photographer for several years, but she was a lifelong artist. She later went back to school and became a registered nurse, where she thrived because of her caring and compassionate ways.
Beverly was a true animal lover and treasured her time with Joyee, her devoted canine companion, and the many others that came before her.
Above all else, Beverly was a loving daughter and mother. They all had an undeniably strong bond centered around nurturing one another with kindness and humor. She was a proud grandmother, “Gammie,” to Madelyn, Lily and Miles. She was truly interested in their latest endeavors and adventures and enjoyed their stories and pictures, always making them feel special and loved.
Those left to cherish her memory include her ever faithful mother Ruth Thompson, of Burlington; son Sean Pope and his wife, Krista, of Graham; grandchildren Madelyn, Lily (Conner Dove) and Miles Pope, of Graham; her true love and friend, Howard Pope, of Durham; and several loving cousins.
Many thanks to the nurses and doctors of Wesley Long Hospital ICU and the numerous neighbors (especially her thoughtful and loyal next-door neighbor, Parker Sumner), family and friends who supported and loved Beverly throughout the years. A very special thank you to her lifelong church family at Shallow Ford Christian Church that taught her so much and always stood by her.
Visitation with the family will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28, in the parlor at Shallow Ford Christian Church, 1263 Shallow Ford Church Road, Elon. Beverly’s celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary with refreshments following in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shallow Ford Christian Church cemetery fund or Samaritan’s Purse. 256, Beverly Christine Thompson Pope
