BURLINGTON — Mrs. Bertha Gerringer Scott, age 98, of Burlington, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at White Oak Manor after several months of failing health.
Born in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Andy Boston Gerringer and the late Annie Wyrick Gerringer. She was married for over 50 years to the late Henry Edwin Scott, who died in 1984. She was a longtime member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, the Burlington Boat Club and she was an avid gardener.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her two sons, Eddie W. Scott and his wife, Jane, of Mebane and Tony L. Scott and his wife, Dona, of Holly Springs, NC; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, George Mack Gerringer of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four sisters, Vergie Fryar, Eva McIntyre, Delories Sockwell and Hazel Smith; and four brothers, Cling Gerringer, A.B. Gerringer, Colon Gerringer, and Roger Gerringer.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 W. Front St., Burlington, 27215.
