Maxine Farrell Powell
Mrs. Maxine Farrell Powell, 82, of 960 Hahn Road, Burlington passed away at the Alamance House on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Robert Willets “Bobby” Powell and the daughter of Clarence Farrell and Mary Glosson Farrell, both deceased. Maxine was a retired beautician having worked at Aubrey’s Beauty Shop for many years. She was a member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church.
Maxine had a deep love for God and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished each and every one of them. One of her favorite things to do was eating out and she could always be found around town at one of her many favorite restaurants. She also had a special fondness for country ham biscuits.
Survivors include her son, Robert W. “Robby” Powell, Jr. and wife Amanda of Tupelo, MS; daughter, Linda Powell Ford and husband Bill of Burlington; three grandchildren, Jake Powell, Bryan Scearce and Jennifer Scearce; three step-grandchildren, Josh Mask, Lindsay Ford-Reyes and Courtney Ford-House; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Hilda Johnson of Burlington. She was also aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Pass and three brothers, Delbert Farrell, Truman Farrell and Wayne Farrell.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Other times they will be at the residence.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Alamance House for the special care and kindnesses extended to Maxine and to the special hospice staff that cared so diligently for her during her final days.
