RANDY MERLE "BUBBA" CARDWELL

JUNE 14, 1953 – FEBRUARY 26, 2026

Randy Merle "Bubba" Cardwell, a beloved member of Alamance County and a distinguished business owner, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 14, 1953, and dedicated a remarkable 53 years to his career as the owner and operator of Cardwell Trucking and Stone Center, Inc., where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Randy's commitment to his work reflected his profound work ethic and passion for the trucking industry, which he admired from an early age. Along with managing his business, he took great pride in driving his dump trucks, and was known for using them to clear snow from parking lots during harsh winter months, always extending a helping hand to those in need.

Beyond his professional life, Randy was a multifaceted individual who cherished gardening and cooking. His culinary skills brought joy to many, particularly during his involvement with the Hospice Balloon Fest, where he generously offered his cooking talents to benefit the community. He also enjoyed frequent trips to the mountains, relishing in the beauty of nature that inspired him.

Randy was of the Christian faith, and his strong values guided his interactions and relationships throughout his life. He is remembered for his kindness, strength, and the unwavering love he shared with his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Debra Farrell Cardwell; his son, Shannon Whaley, and daughter-in-law, Alyssa; sisters, Shirley Freeman and Peggy Blythe; brothers-in-law, Rodney Farrell (Lisa) and Jerry Farrell; special cousin, Deborah Oliver; several nieces and nephews; and his cherished rescue dog, "Rocky."

Randy now joins his late parents, Grover Martin Cardwell and Annie Mae Apple Cardwell, as well as his brothers, Bobby, Homer, and Timmy Cardwell, in eternal rest.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and he will be profoundly missed by all.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 6, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Redding. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 1:45 at the funeral home prior to the service Friday and other times at the residence.
