Virginia Fuquay Glosson
BURLINGTON—Mrs.Glosson, 91, died August 5, 2010, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
She was born in Liberty on July 30, 1919, to Augustine Lloyd Fuquay and Nancy Lindley Fuquay. She graduated from Guilford High School and attended Guilford College. She owned Glosson Construction Company for 10 years.
Her community services included Girl Scout leader, Gray Ladies Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, Alamance County Home Extension, Meals onWheels and the Soup Kitchen. Her hobbies were her flowers, sewing, square dancing, ballroom dancing and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Willis Glosson; sisters, Lura Fuquay, Naomi Fuquay, Ruth Holler and Beulah Lesley; and brothers, Earl Fuquay, Leroy Fuquay and Pearlman Fuquay.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gail Bowers of Savannah, Ga.; her sons, John W. Bowers Jr. and wife Gloria of Lake Tillery, and Douglas B. Bowers and wife Shirley of Charlotte; six grandchildren ; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be conducted on August 8, 2010, at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Lee Pittard at New Garden Friends Cemetery, 801 New Garden Road in Greensboro.
Memorials may be made to her home church, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 609 Trail Two, Burlington, NC 27215.
