SHELBY-Mary Louise Royster Wilkins, 78, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2011, after a brief illness.

She was born on April 17, 1933 in Shelby, NC and was the daughter of the late Horace Ralph and Kathleen Mattison Royster.

She enrolled at Meredith College in Raleigh, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1954. Following graduation, she worked in the trust department of a Charlotte based bank.

Mimi and her late husband, James Sartin Wilkins, were married in 1956. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a sustaining member of the Shelby Junior Charity League.

Mimi is survived by her four sons and wives, Douglas and Julie Wilkins of Hickory, Bill and Sheryl Wilkins of Redmond, Wash., Steve and Jody Wilkins of Shelby, Frank Wilkins of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and six grandchildren, John, Jennifer, Mattison, Macey, Caroline and Alex. Her older brother, Steve Royster and wife Betty, of Shelby, also survived her.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5–6:30 p.m. Thursday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. At other times the family will be at the home of Steve and Jody Wilkins, 900 Meadowbrook Lane, in Shelby

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday at the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church in Shelby
