Mildred Cleo Shepherd Pickard
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mildred Cleo Shepherd Pickard, 92, formerly of 5318 NC 49 South, Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Walter Vernon Pickard and the daughter of Ira Shepherd and Lee Dixon Shepherd Chrismon, both deceased. Cleo retired from Gilbarco, Inc. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who adored her grandchildren. She loved cooking for family and friends and enjoyed traveling with her husband. Cleo was a dedicated member of Friendship United Methodist Church where she decorated and furnished flowers for the church for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann P. Fogleman and husband Kenny of Snow Camp and Judy P. Moore of Burlington; son, Ray Pickard and wife Cheryl of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Lottie Greeson of Asheboro; and brother, Donald Shepherd of Thailand.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia S. Glosson and brother, Harold Shepherd.
The funeral service will be conducted at Friendship United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Henry Swanzey. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the son, Ray Pickard, 2700 Rileys Trail, Burlington, NC.
