Thomas Shoffner Sharpe
GRAHAM — Mr. Thomas Shoffner Sharpe, 92, passed peacefully Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, in his home of 60 years.
Tom was the last surviving of seven children born to Judge W. and Mary Emma Shoffner Sharpe and the husband of six years to Alma Seward Sharpe.
Tom was born, in 1923, in the Mt. Hermon community of Alamance County, NC. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, landing in France subsequent to D-Day and proceeding to the Hurtgen Forest Conflict, where he was wounded, and for which he received a purple heart. He worked in the textile industry upon his return home and retired from Kayser-Roth of Burlington. He was an ardent sportsman, gardener and handy man. He was a devout Christian and was always active in the church. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church at the time of his death. Tom was a loving man and a great friend to a countless number of acquaintances, appreciated by many for his devilish sense of humor.
In addition to Alma, Tom is survived by his daughter, Susan S. Wall and husband Kent and their son, Chad Goldman; son, Thomas F. Sharpe and wife Colleen and their son Dylan; and Alma’s children, Steven and
Tracy Seward and Alan and Betty Seward.

The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at 2 p.m. by Dr. J. Mark Aheron and the Rev. David Jackson with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
Special thanks to Peggy Burnette, Theresa Jones and Sherry Snead, whose assistance allowed Tom to spend his last days in the home he loved.
