BURLINGTON — Sylvia Faye Edwards Loy, 81, of NC 49 South passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, at her home.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Erwin Eugene and Zona Belle Pike Edwards and wife of Joseph L. Loy Jr., who survives.
She was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church for more than 50 years and attended Bethel Baptist Church. She had been employed by Western Electric for 22 years.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Lester Loy Jr. of the home; son Rickey Dean Loy and wife Dolores of Burlington; grandchildren, Shea Loy Pulley and husband Jason of Burlington and Phillip Dean Loy of Burlington; great-grandchild, Ashton Faith Hoggard; brother Tony Edwards and wife, Lee Ann of
Jamestown and sister Judy Sutton and husband, Riley of Concord; nieces and nephews, Carol Huffines and husband, Doug of Elon, Gary Smith and wife, Teresa of Gibsonville, Brent Sutton of FL, Wilma Carol Smith of Burlington, Stephanie Harrison of Mebane, Erin Raycroft of Sumerfield, Barrett Edwards of Wilmington and Josh Edwards of Burlington. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Loy and sister, Annie Carol Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Lamberth, the Rev. David Jackson and the Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
Mrs. Loy will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
