Obituary from the Monday, December 2, 1918 Greensboro Record (Greensboro, N.C.)---page 4:
"CAPTAIN WILLIAM HENRY RANKIN---The community was startled this morning to hear the sad news that Captain William Henry Rankin, Register of Deeds, of Guilford county, had suddenly died Sunday night. Captain Rankin was a brave soldier in the war between the states, and lost a leg on the field of battle. He has many times been honored by the voters of Guilford. He was good citizen and many people will mourn the departure of this old Confederate soldier.
Note from a relative follows below:
Addie Bell Crowder (age 5) was with William and Louise in the 1900 census as 'servant' (her natural parents having died in 1897/1898).
By the 1910 census Addie was shown as their adopted daughter.
MY COMMENT
Addie is Memorial# 94370788
I cant link in FAG to her natural parents AND her adopted parents - but I have added a 'page link' to William and Louise for those who may be interested.
470, Capt William Henry Rankin
