BILOXI, Miss. - Mrs. Evelyn Turner Lawson was a native of King, N.C., born Oct. 9, 1919, and a resident of Biloxi since March of 2004. Mrs. Lawson died at her home in Biloxi on Wednesday, July 13, 2005. She was a lifelong resident of Stokes County and a member of First Baptist Church in King. Mrs. Lawson attended Appalachian State University and graduated from High Point University. She was an elementary school educator in Stokes and Forsyth Counties for 41 years. Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents, B.A. and Lillie Forrest Turner; a brother, Joseph Reid Turner; and a sister, Ruth Turner Hauser. Survivors include a daughter, Judith (Lance) of Biloxi; and grandson, Lance Harrington II (Tamara) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Doris Turner Hartgrove (Edgar) of Elon, N.C.; a brother, Wallace Turner of Gastonia, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Everette Lawson (Estelle); sisters-in-law, Ruth Lawson and Anne Roberts; a great aunt, Alma Hardin; several cousins; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Blake and Grant Smith and Betty and Carl Southern. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, July 17, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, at King Memorial Park, Old Hwy. 52, with Dr. John Wren officiating. Memorials may be made to Kate B.
