George David “Sonny” White
 

 BURLINGTON — Mr. George David “Sonny” White, 83, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
 
 Born in Emporia, VA, he was the son of the late George Washington White and the late Mary Rose White and was married for over 63 years to Mrs. Betty Knight White, who survives.
 
 Mr. White was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Sonny was employed with Smith Electric and F&H TV & Appliance before founding George’s Appliance Service. He was a longtime member of Baptist Temple, where he served as a Deacon, a bus driver and was on the Visitation Ministry Team. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid UNC Tar Heels and Atlanta Braves fan.
 
 Mr. White is survived by his wife of the home; son, David L. White and wife Deana, of Denver, NC; two grandchildren, Robbie (Sandra) Moore and Laura White; great-granddaughter, Bella Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathy W. Moore; three sisters, Leatha Hagood, Martha Hicklin and Ruth McCall; and two brothers, Wade White and James White.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Baptist Temple by Dr. Don Carter. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
 
 The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the residence.
