Mrs. Donna Faye Watson Amos, 90, a resident of High Point, died Friday, November 21, 2014 at High Point Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Donna was born December 31, 1923, a daughter of Raymond Webber Watson, Sr. and Lydia Ann Deaton. On April, 3, 1941, she married Esker Ellis Amos, Jr. who preceded her in death in 2011. In addition, to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Meredith Leigh Haynes.
Donna is survived by daughters Susan Haynes and husband Norris, Barbara Miller and husband Robert and son, Trip Amos, grandchildren Robert Miller, Jr., and wife Erin; Schaefer and Caroline Amos and great-grandsons William and Hudson Miller. Also surviving are her brother Ray Watson Jr. and wife Dollie, sister Betty Anne Watson Litzie and brother and sister in law, Rudolph and Martha Amos in addition to many beloved cousins, friends and extended family.
Donna lived an enthusiastic life, making many friends who were drawn to her and her kind heart. Her kindness to complete strangers was often evident as she carried out her duties in the Guilford County court system. Donna began her career as a member of the High Point Municipal Court in 1958, later becoming part of the state court working for 30 years as Deputy and Assistant Clerk of Court. Donna lived life on the go and never missed the opportunity to shop or travel with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her many trips to Holden Beach spending time with family and friends there. She will be fondly remembered dancing and singing to her favorite beach tunes.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday November 23, 2014 at Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Drive in High Point. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM in Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, Monday, November 24, 2014 with Reverend David Umphlett officiating followed by interment in Floral Gardens Memorial Park.
