Walter Talmadge Blythe
WHITSETT – Mr. Walter Talmadge Blythe, 90, of Whitsett died at Coble Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation at Twin Lakes Community on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 1:30 a.m.
A native of Hendersonville, NC, he was the husband of the late Mary Olive Hairr Blythe and the son of Jefferson Blythe and Leona Hamilton Blythe, both deceased.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a retired Postmaster of the Whitsett Post Office.
Mr. Blythe was a member of Springwood Presbyterian Church, a member and past president of the Whitsett Ruritan Club, former Scoutmaster in Whitsett, and a former board member of the Whitsett Fire Department.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Blythe Klump and husband Gene of Lexington; three sons, Michael Jefferson Blythe and wife Jane of Burlington, James Walter Blythe and wife Judy of Lewisville and John Douglas Blythe and wife Julie of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
The funeral service will be conducted at Springwood Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Frank Covington.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. til 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
