ELON, NC - Sandra Barber Whitt, 70, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer for a year, she was surrounded by her loved ones.
Sandra was born on January 6, 1946 in Alamance County to the late Robert C. Barber, Sr. and Ruth Cook Barber. She was the wife of 33 ½ years to Ervin Leon Whitt who survives.
Sandra retired after 35 years with Monarch Hosiery/Gold Toe. She attended Ossipee Baptist Church and enjoyed baking for her family and friends.
Survivors other than her husband, Ervin Leon Whitt include her daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Michael Jennings, Julie and Anthony Talley; grandchildren, Ashley Reid, Kim Caudle, Bryant Jennings, Kelsi Basham and Morgan Talley; great-grandchildren, Sophie Caudle, Taryn Caudle, Harlen Caudle, Nellie Leigh and Alicia Jennings; sister, Nettie Lou Dodson and a special friend, Pat Roach. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda B. Creel and brothers, Robert C. Barber, Jr. and David F. Barber,
The funeral service will be held 1 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Ossipee Baptist Church with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
