Betty Glenn Willoughby


GRAHAM – Betty Glenn Willoughby, 86, of Graham died after a courageous battle with cancer at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 8:08 p.m.

A native of Alamance County she was the daughter of Obie Walton Glenn and

Josie Pearl Woody Glenn, both deceased. She was a dedicated nurse at Alamance County Hospital for 43 years in the operating room and volunteered 17 years at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Betty was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church. She was an avid knitter, bowler, and reader. Betty was a sports enthusiast and a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her supper group. Betty loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Vaughn Willoughby and wife Amy of Elon and Bette Willoughby Britt and husband Mark of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, Heather and George Willoughby, Jonathan Britt and wife Allison, and Sarah and Logan Britt; and many cousins and large extended family.

A funeral service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2 p.m. by Rev. Jimmy Weaver. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 5 until 7 p.m.at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Davis Street United Methodist Church, 606 East Davis Street, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or the Cancer Center at Alamance Regional Medical Center, 1236 Huffman Mill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Presbyterian Home of Hawfields, ARMC, and the Cancer Center at ARMC for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Mrs. Willoughby.
