James A. Drummond
James A. Drummond, age 93, of Gibsonville passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 2:56 p.m.
Born in Birmingham, AL, he was the husband of 59 years to the late Joan Summers Drummond and the son of Eugene A. Drummond and Allyne Winston Drummond, both deceased. Mr. Drummond was a veteran of the Merchant Marines serving during World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of Elon University where he and his wife, Joan, served as Co-Presidents of Elon Golden Alumni Association. With over 50 years of service, he was the longest serving realtor in Alamance County and owner of Drummond Realty and Construction, Gibsonville, NC. James was the 1985 Realtor of the Year and a Silver Member of the N. C. Association of Realtors. He was a former member of the Gibsonville City Council and a longtime member of Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities.
Survivors include a brother, Jack Winston Drummond; sister, Joann D. Brown; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Cody and Kelly. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary D. Kinney and husband Thomas E. Kinney, Jr.; two brothers, Walker Eric Drummond and William E. “Bill” Drummond; and brother-in-law, George Brown.
A memorial service will be conducted at Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. by The Rev. W. Ralph Heller, Jr. The family will receive friends following the service at the church on Sunday.
