Obituary Online notes for Flora Bell DINWIDDIE
Mrs. Flora Bell Brown, 28, an expectant mother, died about 5:30 p.m. last Thursday afternoon form a gun shot wound to the neck, She was brought to the office of a Marshfield Dr. by her husband. Francis Brown, but was dead on arrival. Death was caused by loss of blood mostly internal.

Coroner Oral Edwards said the wound was inflected accidentally. Investigation is continuing, Sheriff Floyd Owen said.

Apparent the incident occurred at the Brown home east of the Niangua. The only witness to the incident were the 30-year old husband and the couple's children, the oldest of whom is 7. Authorities said one of the children indicated the parents had been arguing, but Brown said they had not.

He told the officers he had removed his .22 caliber rifle from its resting place over a door to check and see that it was unloaded, and said it discharged as he was replacing it. Sheriff Owen said an expended hull was found in the gun.

The officers were told Mrs. Brown, whose baby was due to be born within a few days, was standing by a couch when struck by the bullet. Her husband said he helped her to the office of a Marshfield physician who called for a resuscitator from Barber-Edwards Funeral Home in a futile effort to revive the woman.

A corner's jury viewed the body Friday morning but delayed next week any ruling as to how she met death.
