Obituary Online notes for “Jay” James Wilford REBEL
ames Wilford Rebel was born in his home in Mound City MO during a snow storm on January 26 1936. He was the son of Henry George Rebel and Emma Anna Sophia Gerdes. He arrived in Heaven at 9:52 pm on December 6, 2010 and at that time received his new body!

Jay had 2 brothers and 3 sisters plus a set of twin siblings that died at birth. If you were to ask his surviving sisters, Verna and Emily, if their brother was onery growing up, there would be NO hesitation....he LOVED pestering his sisters! When Jay was 3, his sisters remember a time when they couldn't find him! The neighbors were called on to help look for him but, of course to Jay he wasn't lost.....he knew right where he was....sleeping with his dog in the doghouse! When he was of driving age, he found a way to outrun the town sheriff .....BUT we won't talk about that in front of the grandsons!

On February 3 1957, Jay and Nancy Jean Rader were united in marriage in Mound City MO. This union was blessed with three daughters: Sherrie, Sandy and Teri. Jay and Nancy were later blessed with 4 grandsons: Dustin, Kody, TJ and Dylan. One of the highlights of his life was to attend and support (not only physically but sometimes vocally. . . ask the Winston referees) his grandsons sports events. Jay again was blessed with granddaughter-in-laws Jessey and Kayla therefore the great grandchildren began arriving: Braxton, Shaylee, Creed, Caleb, Gage and Ryker. Jay was so proud of these little ones!

One of Jay's favorite sayings was "Jesus loves you!" to whoever he encountered! As you all know, Jay did not know a stranger!!

Jay was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 5 siblings, 2 brother-in-laws, 2 sister-in-laws and 1 nephew. Jay is survived by his daughters Sherrie Rebel, Sandy (Jeff) Heitz, Teri (Scott) Fortner, 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughter-in-laws, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 on Friday, December 10th at Blue Ridge Christian Church and funeral services will be held on December 11th at 10:30 am at the same location in Blue Ridge, MO. Jay will be laid to rest at the Prairie Chapel Church Cemetery in Bethany MO under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs MO (816) 630-3388 www.polleyfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to South Harrison or North Harrison High School athletic departments. 470, James Wilford "Jay" Rebel
