JOHNNIE MACK McCLANAHAN, son of Oscar Lee and Arnetta Williams McClanahan was born July 5, 1919, in Wright County, Missouri and departed this life January 11, 2009, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty nine years.
On August 15, 1955, Mack, as he was known to family and friends, was united in marriage with Norma Long and of this union are two sons, both surviving. At the time of his death, he and Norma had celebrated fifty-three loving years together.
On April 6, 1966, he professed his faith in Christ and was baptized at Southern Heights Christian Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Lebanon where he was faithful and active as long as his health permitted.
After graduating from Niangua High School, Mack attended Springfield Teachers College. He began his teaching career in Wright County at the elementary school. He also taught at Cedar Creek in Taney County until 1962, where he joined the staff at the School Of The Ozarks, which is now known as College of the Ozarks and worked there until 1965.
Although Mack taught for several years, he also became associated with the police force in Springfield, Missouri and later worked as a claims adjustor for Shelter Insurance. He had the great ability to excel in whatever area of employment he was involved in. He was respected by his co-workers and learned from each experience.
Mack was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F & A.M. He was dedicated to his duties as a Mason and treasured the camaraderie with the other members.
Mack had a wonderful "gift of gab." He loved to visit with friends and share stories. However, nothing compared to the time spent and wonderful memories he shared with his adoring family.
He is survived by his loving wife Norma of the home; two sons, Ernest Emmerton and his wife Charlotte of Nixa, Missouri, and Bruce Emmerton and his wife Karen of Stafford, Virginia; four grandchildren, Cynthia McCann and her husband Mac, Justin Emmerton and his wife Sara, Brenna Emmerton, and Craig Emmerton and his wife Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Madalynn McCann and Jackson Emmerton; other relatives and friends.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jake, Charles, and Russell and six sisters, Jessie, Blanche, Neva, Alta, Dora and Brooxie.
A loving husband, wonderful father, fun-loving grandfather and loyal friend, with a smile that would light up the room and a laugh that was contagious, his sense of humor and infectious personality will be treasured. He will be greatly missed.
470, Johnnie Mack McClanahan
