James S. “Sammy” Johnston, Jr.
GRAHAM - Mr. James S. “Sammy” Johnston, Jr., 61, of Graham passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, May 31, 2020.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of James Samuel Johnston, Sr. and Vernice Sykes Johnston, both deceased. He was a retired firefighter with the City of Graham Fire Department. Sammy was a member of the N. C. Firemen’s Association and was N.C. state certified as a Service Tester for Fire Department Pumpers. He was a lifelong member of Graham Presbyterian Church where he served as a former Deacon and Elder.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Samuel Johnston of Raleigh and Stephen Graham Johnston of Graham; sister, Donna Johnston of Advance; and two great aunts, Sarah Graham Johnston of Graham and Anne Pierce of Mebane.
A graveside service will be conducted at Linwood Cemetery on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 . at 11:00 a.m. by Dr. Steve Braswell.
Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham is assisting the family.
