Foy Euliss Becknell

MOORESVILLE – Mrs. Foy Euliss Becknell, 88, of Mooresville, and formerly of Burlington, died on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late John F. Becknell and the daughter of Jesse Columbus Euliss and Lolita Armour Foster Euliss, both deceased.

She graduated from Elon College in 1950 and was employed at Burlington Textiles for over 30 years, where she was the recipient of their Citizen of the Year Award multiple times. Mrs. Becknell was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burlington where she served as the church secretary, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Chancel Committee, the Women’s Guild, and after retirement worked in the church day care.

In Mooresville, she was a member of Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church from 2008 until present where she was an active member of the Nan Williams Circle and served as President for three years. She was known by all that knew her as a selfless, loving, and kind friend, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Ann Sheehe of Mooresville and Deborah Becknell Runnells of Kill Devil Hills; three grandchildren, Kelly Kathleen Fesperman and husband John of Mooresville, Jessica Lee Runnells, and Michael Cheyne Runnells, both of Kill Devil Hills; two great grandchildren, Connor and Cooper Fesperman of Mooresville; sister, Kathleen Smith and husband Boyd of Lexington; nieces and nephews, Dudley Smith and wife Sandy of Reidsville, and Corrette and Wayne Miller of King; and great-nieces and nephews, Rory Smith of Reidsville and Scarlett, Hattie, and Noah Miller, all of King.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Wade C. Euliss.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Rich and Thompson Chapel, 306 Glenwood Avenue, Burlington, NC, with Rev. Mark Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington.
The family would also like to welcome friends and relatives for a reception at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 609 Trail Two, Burlington, NC, immediately following the burial at Alamance Memorial Park on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 575 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.
