Norma L. Spurling, 81, of Hiker Trace, died at 7:18 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. 
Mrs. Spurling was the founder and owner of L&N Surgical in Columbus and was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 
Having a passion for children, Mrs. Spurling was a generous caregiver for family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. 
Born in Indianapolis January 18, 1933, Mrs. Spurling was the daughter of Walter Hugh and Velma Jordan Scalf. She was the widow of Lester Temple and Russell Holderness. 
Survivors include her husband, Earl Spurling of Columbus; children, Stephen (Bonnie) Temple of Greenwood, Tricia (Steve) White of Columbus, and Jeania Temple of Lexington, KY; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Blasdel of Texas; brothers, Donald (Rey) Mulligan of Virginia and Jack (Marge) Scalf of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. 
Mrs. Spurling was preceded in death by her parents; her previous husbands; a son, David Temple; and a sister, Nadine Jensen.
